Since we have a wide range of robotics experience in the club, we thought it would be a good idea to send out videos and tasks that everyone can do to either brush up on your knowledge or learn something new that will be useful when we get into the season. It would be best if everyone would attempt to work on or watch the things we send out. We're only going to send out about an hour of things to do within a week, so it won't take up much time of your summer but it will be incredibly useful. We have three categories of things to send out: mechanics, beginner programming, and advanced programming. The mechanics activities will be videos that you can watch that explain some topic related to building a robot. The videos will be youtube videos that we find or make if the ones we find don't explain the topic well enough. The beginner programming activities will be a mix of reading a tutorial, watching videos, and trying programming out yourself. Our goal is that everyone has basic skills in Java for the season. The advanced programming will be harder tasks to challenge the people who already know Java. In the programming challenges, we'll post links to online compilers so that you don't need to download anything. The programming activities do not involve the robot or the phones. They just deal with the language. There will also be a prize for doing the tasks for team members. There are three incentives being offered:
For members, submit your code through the quiz link in the email with the challenge information for the week. To qualify, you have to score at least 80% on the mechanics questions AND submit working code. If your code doesn't work, you'll get an email asking you to fix it. You can reply to that email and still qualify. We'll be sending them out on Thursdays! If anyone not part of the club wants to have their code checked, feel free to email it to [email protected]!
